Construction Industries We Serve

Is Our Marketing Service a Good Fit for Your Construction Company?

Not every marketing company is built the same.

Some specialize in one service. Some work with every industry. Some are built around advertising. Others focus on websites, SEO, branding, or social media.

We built our company differently.

SBMS Media works primarily with contractors, remodelers, builders, and home service companies that want an experienced marketing partner who can look at the whole business, not just one marketing channel.

If you are considering hiring a single-source marketing partner, here is a straightforward look at who we work best with, how we work, and what you can expect.

Who We Work Best With

We specialize in marketing for contractors, remodelers, builders, and home service professionals.

Our clients typically range from approximately $300,000 to $10 million in annual revenue and are located in the United States.

We may be a particularly good fit if:

  • You recently purchased or inherited a company and need to modernize the brand or marketing.

  • Your company has grown, but the marketing has not kept up.

  • You are ready for a rebrand or repositioning.

  • Lead flow is inconsistent.

  • You are getting leads, but not enough of the projects you actually want.

  • You want to enter a new territory or launch a new service.

  • You need help setting up or improving a CRM, follow-up system, or marketing automation.

  • You have someone internally who can help with marketing but needs strategy, direction, or training.

  • You built your company without outside investors and need to be thoughtful about where every marketing dollar goes.

  • You are skeptical about marketing, nervous about hiring an agency, or have had a poor experience with one before.

If this is your first time hiring a marketing company, that is perfectly fine.

We actually enjoy working with business owners who want to understand what is happening.

We teach our clients what we are doing, why we are doing it, what we are watching, and how marketing connects to the rest of the company.

Not because we expect you to become your own marketing department.

Because you should understand what you are paying for and how it supports your business.

Your brand will perform better if you stay engaged and treat SBMS Media as your marketing manager, an off-site team member who will need to meet with you monthly to review SMART goals, reporting, and more.

Our goal is to become a long-term partner in your growth, not another vendor you replace every few months.

The Pros of Working With Us

We understand the business behind the marketing.

Marketing does not operate by itself.

A lead can come in, but someone still has to answer the phone.

A sales opportunity can be created, but someone still has to follow up.

A new service can be promoted, but the team has to be ready to sell and deliver it.

That is why we look beyond clicks, impressions, rankings, and leads.

We look at what happens before, during, and after the marketing.

Nicole has been on the owner and operator side.

Her experience is not limited to marketing agency work.

Nicole spent decades inside and around growing construction companies, including co-owning an 8-figure construction company.

Her experience includes marketing, sales, lead generation, rebranding, new service launches, expansion, client experience, sales-team support, CRM changes, and the growing pains that come with a larger company.

Her experience spans business-to-business and business-to-consumer interactions and she has worked with privately and publicly traded construction companies.

That matters because sometimes the problem that looks like a marketing problem is not actually a marketing problem.

Nicole’s experience is what makes SBMS Media different from any other agency or marketing partner you may be interviewing.

We look for the real problem before recommending the solution.

Sometimes you need more leads.

Sometimes you need better leads.

Sometimes the positioning is wrong.

Sometimes the sales team is not following up.

Sometimes your company has outgrown its brand.

Sometimes you are marketing the wrong service.

Sometimes the campaign simply needs more time.

Our job is to help determine what is actually happening before you spend more money trying to fix the wrong thing.

We understand contractors.

We understand that contractor marketing is different from marketing a restaurant, software company, retail store, or online business.

We understand long sales cycles, large project values, seasonal lead fluctuations, geographic service areas, reputation, referrals, project qualification, homeowner anxiety, sales follow-up, and the importance of getting the right type of project rather than simply generating more leads.

We connect marketing to sales.

Marketing can open the door.

Sales still has to walk the customer through it.

We pay attention to what happens after the lead arrives, including qualification, follow-up, sales messaging, promotions, appointment setting, and the customer journey.

If marketing is generating opportunities but they are not turning into sales, we want to know why.

We understand the customer experience after the sale.

Good marketing does not stop when the contract is signed.

Client communication, expectations, boundaries, reviews, referrals, warranties, and reputation all influence future growth.

We look at the entire customer journey because a strong experience can create repeat business, referrals, better reviews, and a stronger reputation.

We bring 30 years of pattern recognition to the table.

One of the biggest advantages of experience is being able to recognize patterns.

We have seen companies struggle with lead flow, sales follow-up, expansion, rebranding, wrong-fit clients, outdated positioning, poor customer communication, underperforming campaigns, and marketing systems that no longer match the size of the business.

That experience helps us ask better questions earlier.

We will tell you when we think you should not spend the money.

We are not interested in recommending something simply because we can sell it.

If we believe you need to fix another part of the business first, we will tell you.

If we believe a campaign needs more time, we will tell you.

If we believe another approach makes more sense, we will tell you that too.

We want marketing decisions to be intentional, measured, and tied to the bigger business goal.

We are a boutique company.

You are not being passed through layers of account managers who know very little about your company.

We intentionally stay small enough to remain involved, responsive, and familiar with the businesses we serve.

We teach while we work.

We believe business owners should understand their marketing department.

You should know:

What are we doing?

Why are we doing it?

What are we measuring?

What is working?

What needs attention?

What happens next?

You do not need to become a marketer.

You do need enough information to make good business decisions.

We are built for long-term relationships.

We would much rather work with a client for five years than five months.

Marketing compounds.

Your message improves.

Your data improves.

Your reputation grows.

Your audience gets larger.

Your systems become stronger.

That requires patience, communication, measurement, and a willingness to improve along the way.

Our agreement terms are 1 year but we plan for a 3 year engagement because we know if we do our job right, you won’t make a change for 3-5 years.

When We May Not Be the Right Fit

We are a small boutique marketing company so if you are looking to work with a large marketing agency with a large support team, we may not be the right fit for you.

We also may not be the right partner if you:

  • Demand immediate results from every campaign.  We provide pros/cons/costs/timelines to see a return on investment and you buy in on that before we begin a campaign.
  • Frequently change direction before there is enough data to evaluate performance.  This hinders your success.  We ask you to trust, but verify, data, before making any campaign adjustments.

  • Want someone to simply take orders rather than be part of your team.

  • Tend to change employees or team members frequently.
  •

Think We Might Be a Good Fit?

You do not need to have your entire marketing plan figured out before you call us.

In fact, that is usually why people reach out.

Maybe lead flow has become inconsistent. Maybe you are attracting the wrong projects. Maybe the company has grown and the brand, website, CRM, or follow-up process has not kept up. Or maybe you simply know something needs to change, but you do not want to waste money fixing the wrong thing.

That is where we come in.

We will talk through where the business is today, what you are trying to accomplish, what you have already tried, and where we see the biggest opportunities or potential problems.

If we believe we can help, we will explain what that could look like.

If we do not think we are the right fit, we will tell you that too.

Either way, you should leave the conversation with a better understanding of what your next marketing move should be.
